Borobudur Village Tour – Village, we also call KAMPUNG. The term kampung in the English language has been defined specifically as “a Malay hamlet or village in a Malay-speaking country” [5] In other words, a kampung is defined today as a village in Brunei, Indonesia or Malaysia. In Malaysia, a kampung is determined as a locality with 10,000 or fewer people. Since historical times, every Malay village came under the leadership of a penghulu (village chief), who has the power to hear civil matters in his village (see Courts of Malaysia for more details). A Malay village typically contains a “masjid” (mosque) or “surau” (Muslim chapel), stilt houses and paddy fields. Malay and Indonesian villagers practice the culture of helping one another as a community, which is better known as “joint bearing of burdens” (gotong royong), as well as being family-oriented (especially the concept of respecting one’s family [particularly the parents and elders]), courtesy and believing in God (“Tuhan”) as paramount to everything else. It is common to see a cemetery near the mosque, as all Muslims in the Malay or Indonesian village want to be prayed for, and to receive Allah’s blessings in the afterlife.

Borobudur is surrounded by many vilages or Kampungs. Each village has their unique in culture, typical houses, traditional and local food. Most villages have set up their group of performance under local government support. You may arrange local dance that is unuque and simple.

The village tour takes after visiting Borobudur temple. There are two pssibilities of either by Andong (horse cart) or cycling. Andong is recommended. One andong is good for 1 passanger behind the “driver” and two in back seat. When seat down in the back seat, you may assist the drive to give a sign when turing left or right. Because horse has no electric power to light up the sign … ya khan?

Shake you hand to turn left and right. When youhave done it and other will pass, please say “STOP STOP STOP!!!”. With this andong, you do not need to worry aboyt the increasing or decling of petrol price. No proble. The main fuel is grass for horse and rice for the driver. Some time also need humberger !!!. But the driver has his own humberger, called TELO!

Pass this villages: Wanurejo, Candirejo, Karanganyar, Tingal, Mendut, Pawon. Visit elementaru school. Then you will be greet by children how are you!. Some say Good morning, even you come ther in the afternoon. he he he he.

Pricing for this tour is per andong. Around IDR 75.000,- But dont try to drive your self!. Andong has no break. Must be very tallent driver can do that!OK … join this tour!
